“What is most personal is most universal.” - Carl Rogers
If there is one quote that best sums up what I have learned as a therapist it is that. We all hurt. We all want. We are all afraid. I work with all types of people with all types of presenting concerns. Allow me to inform you that you are not alone.
I’m honored any time someone decides to share their world with me. Though I do believe we are more alike than we are different, I don’t think everyone’s therapy experience should be the same. Together, you and I would create a personalized therapy experience that suits your conversation style, personality, needs, pace, etc.
My job is to respectfully challenge you. Therapy can be hard, but it doesn’t mean we can’t have any fun. I use humor to work through hard sh*t and I use hope as the engine to move you forward. I will always come prepared with topics to work on and concepts to consider, but will always create space for you to steer the ship. I work to create a theory- and research-informed therapeutic approach that hides within a free-flowing and very human conversation. And whether I am working with an individual, couple, or family, I have found that, more times than not, through conversation we get to a place of understanding that none of us could have gotten to alone.
As a trained systemic therapist, I love working with couples and families. Helping these core relationships heal, apologize, forgive, understand, commiserate, and empathize unlocks a lighter, more free, more exciting world. When things are good with loved ones the world is less scary, and you can challenge yourself towards success more confidently.
I use Existential Psychology, Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment theory, CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, Gottman approaches, and many other modalities to help us make sense of where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there.
Let’s recontextualize and heal the trauma of the past, repurpose the anxiety of the future, and organize around the challenges of the moment. There is no one right way to live a life. Please understand yourself as a one-of-one and understand the goal is to create a unique lifestyle and philosophy that suits you best. I’d be really happy to help figure out what that looks like for you.
